Max Savatteri

Max Savatteri, Italian dancer and choreographer, began his dancing carreer as a kid. He started by attending multiple lessons and workshops of Ballet (with masters such as Victor Litvinov, Margarita Trajanova, Mariel Stefanescu and more others), Modern Jazztecniques (with Matt Mattox), Lyrical Jazz, Contemporary, Afro, Tap Dancing and Funky Style. This whole path led him to win a scholarship at Renato Greco's Academy (one of the most important in Iitaly) located in Rome.It was right here that he took his diploma in Vaganovaand Rad ballet methods.

His interest in Video Dance and Hip Hop, particularly in New Style/Street Jazz (L.A. Style), began a little while later, but was just as strong. He studied Old School with basically some of the pioneers of the Hip Hop culture: Mr Wiggles, Suga Pop e Brian Green. Then, being a teacher himself and not being able to attend classes regularly, he mostly trained on his own, working toward the reaching of a personal style. He never stopped taking random classes when he could though so, among the most famous dancers Max has studied with, we must add Babà (House Dance), Sheryl Murakami (Video Dance), Luam (New Style/Street Jazz) and Marty Kudelka (New Style/Street Jazz).

Max's Style consists in a fusion of cultures. The light, delicate breath of Ballet tainted by acharacteristic funky groove and the cleanliness of movement isolations, hugely used in all Hip Hoptechniques. The relationship with air and space is really strong and well calibrated. Max also has a particular interest in Contact techniques so there is a costant reaserch and study of the joints within the body.
